Landscape architects are responsible for designing beautiful and functional outdoor spaces, such as parks, campuses, playgrounds, parking lots, and even private residences. Until recently, any measurements needed for a landscape architecture project would require traditional survey and/or measurements of the property taken with tape measures and levels. With the growing prevalence of reality capture technology, however, the landscape architecture industry is discovering ways to improve its workflows by integrating new technologies.

While using traditional survey still works, these types of projects can be completed much more efficiently and accurately by utilizing drones and laser scanners for mapping, photogrammetry mesh models to provide accurate, colorful examples of the projects, and virtual reality to allow project stakeholders to experience the final product before it is physically complete.

Tune in to Episode 5 of the RCN Podcast to learn from Matthew and Krisjan about the use cases for drones, laser scanners, and virtual reality within landscape architecture.
